July 2018: please tell your friends and family to get the Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45 mod for RO1. The game needs more players! Despite it being almost 10 years old, it still gets new updates somewhat regularly thanks for dedicated modders. The most recent update was published earlier July (that was version 8.0.10). It added a couple new constructable pieces; Dragon's Tooth and Vehicle Pool. There were also quite a few smaller adjustments, like how supply caches must now have longer distance between them to prevent "hax" by those who just build instead of fight (it’s like with those types of persons who hunt for welcome bonuses in different gaming platforms by learning how to search the right thing in a foreign language, like for example googling "Suomalainen casino" could find welcome bonuses offered in Finland).

Revenge of the Turul

Revenge of the Turul presents the Hungarian Army in the Second World War. This modification released originally on November 2010. Game is at the moment on Beta 2 phase — Beta 2 was released in March 2011. Update includes two new vehicles and new sounds for the tanks and firearms.

The development team behind Revenge of the Turul plans to roll the game in two-phased manner: 1st pphase introduces Hungarian tankers who fight side by side with the Germans against Russians. Besides Hungarian and German vehicles, which include Turan I and II, Jagdpanzer 38(t) nicknamed “Hetzer”, there is playable Russian SU1000 tank destroyer. On the 2nd phase of Revenge of the Turul, Royal Hungarian Army equipment is presented. That includes antitank guns and small arms like Frommer 37M Pistol and Solothurm MG.

Revenge of the Turul’s new version is planned to have at least four or five tanks and perhaps even armoured cars. Developers might add a short single player campaign. The storyline for that is, and has been since June 2011, in writing process.

Turul project was first annnounced in March 2010. At that time modders told that game focuses on the battles of the Hungarian Army on Axis side. Game introduces playable historical battles like the battle of Don river on summer 1943 and the defense of Budapest 1944–1945.

Development team has open positions for mappers, texture artists, coders and animators.
